This
EP actually only came about cos I took a really bad
photo and made it into a cover. Hehe. Then I made posts
in forums that I was releasing a single, so I figured
I should probably make one. So, no great Tina artwork
here, but she'll be back for the next album, which
will include the first 2 tracks from this EP. 'suspect
yr neighbour' got a pretty decent reception from some
kindly folks on the web, which is encouraging considering
I kinda fucked up with the riffs and shit. But it all
came together by the end and it sounds okay to me.
The third track came from me looking to use a decent
sample, and I realised that 'Latyrx (Last Chance To
Comprehend)' by the mighty Bay Area hip-hop duo Latyrx
was the closest I had to an acapella vocal. It's their
weirdest track, and it all sounds kind of odd. Instead
of being arsed to write a backing for it, I just used
a backwards version of 'loft from cows' which I had
kicking around. 2 minutes later it was done. Not very
well either, hehehe. But hey, it's a b-side! What more
do you want?
The track 'it followed me' (from 'south of here') came
from trying to find an intro to this heavy riff I was
playing around with. But it would have sounded wrong
on the album, so I chopped the riff out and it appeared
on the album as an edit. The full version is here.
Are you excited yet? Weirdly, '106' isn't named after
being 1.06 long. I saved the original riff as 106.seq
on my hard-drive (i think it was a reference to my
10-6 working hours), and when I looped it 4 times it
was 1.06 long. Spooky, huh? *X-Files theme comes in*
Anyway, this appeared (backwards) as 'keys' on 'everything
else is nothing'. Yeah. |
