For
the 4 millionth Enough Rope album I thought it would
be great to write some songs, so I wrote some songs
and then recorded them and then released them in this
fashion. I recorded this a couple of days after Tina
had gone back to Croatia. She'd spend thirteen days
here, hence the title. This cover is a temporary one
which later became permanent cos Tina thought it was
alright, although that might just be her covering for
being lazy. There is actually another, slightly different
cover I made for this which went out in the post, involving
three boxes, two of which were empty. But I couldn't
be arsed to scan that in anyway.
The intro of this starts off really loud. Usually when
I record I start of by playing some stupid rock riff
to check it's working, and this timwe I decided to
keep it as a fake opening to the first track, which
is actually really slow and quiet, being as it is an
extended version of the 'booga sugar' track off the
verses ep. I do love some of the songs here even if
no-one else does. 'an accurate copy' (title couresy
of Björk!) is kinda simple, but I wanted to get
in that high-end two-note riff which kinda reminds
me a little of DJ Shadow's 'High Noon'. Har! 'out'
was my attempt at punk-funk in an Out Hud/!!! stylee.
Only, y'know, not so funky. Or punky. Anyway, Out Hud's
'S.T.R.E.E.T.D.A.D' album is filled with those same
shimmery delayed guitar effects, only better, so do
check that out. The title of 'sounds commercial' came
from the side of a van which was parked in the G-Mex
car park, it's some firm which sells services or goods
that don't actually do anything, or some crap like
that. 'Media'. Anyway, I like that song a lot, although
the mid-section I'm not so sure of. Hmph. 'Tell' is
one of my better songs, I just really like the bits
where it gets going and it has all different shit going
on. I'll shut up now.
'to ground' is tuned down to C. Woooo. Next CD should
have 'sevens on repeat', which is in B. So, there's
something for you to look forward to over the summer.
